agademy.in team approached Agricultural officers appointed in 2019 to share their interview experiences of TNPSC AO exam. We approached them with the following questionnaire

Most of them accepted our request and shared their experiences on condition of anonymity. We hope this will be helpful for upcoming aspirants to prepare for their AO interview and for other TNPSC interviews like HO, ADH, AAO, etc.,

Soil science and about my district.

3. What was the expectation of interview board according to you ?

Basic knowledge about our district with practical knowledge but we should have well developed knowledge in our subject as well as should have to tackle the problem solving capacity.

For girls – cotton sarees or chudithars with light colour which should not be so many embroidery in it.

I never studied any book and not attended any classes too.

District history, temples, important personalities.

3. What was the expectation of interview board according to you ?

They noticed how we managed difficult questions and just expected us to try something to Answer.

Studying the contents along with practicing the way to answer will be helpful.. ( answering to our friends even will be a better practice).

AO diary, newspaper, District Profile, and some notes given by AOs.

Yes, Attended 3 mocks.

Have good practice.. So u will have no fear on the interview day and be cool on the particular day.

They told me to say about my native district,The mandate crops and it’s technical questions, About my father, My ambition, New VC of TNAU, Famous scientist from TNAU, Some general question about increasing food production, water requirement and no of irrigation required for cotton crop.

When you say about any big personalities and scientists address them with proper salutations viz, Dr, Hon’ble etc.

Ques revolved around my biodata(details I uploaded in TNPSC application),native place and related agricultural crops,current affairs.

Boldness,Clarity in speech,

Confidence,Practical knowledge and good understanding of the department.

4. Your Recommendation for aspirants preparing interview

Be clear in your answer and don’t try to make up things,Talk confidently with a smiling face,dont get stressed interview will be so cool and longs up to just 15-20 mins,rehearse many times infront of a mirror or with your friends.Body languages are important.

Plain Light colour cotton saree with short border.(3/4th sleeve preferred)

Make 5 parts in a notebook and start collecting information.

3.Organisational setup of Agriculture department.

4.Technical part – about subject,crops and new technologies invented.

5.Current affairs in general and agriculture in particular(schemes, subsidy,marketing),production and productivity of India and Tamilnadu,Export and import of agri produce,etc

Not revealed, I am from farming community. Previously I was in canara bank.

2. Area from which most of your questions are asked?

Only from agriculture generally they asked like sugarcane byproducts, groundnut yield, enriched FYM, agroclimatic zones of Tamilnadu, high rainfall area in tamilnadu, difference btw edible and millable sugarcane.

3. What was the expectation of interview board according to you?

Like one word questions only they asked. Tested what kind of knowledge I have in agriculture. Only 10 minutes they taken to interview me.

4. Your Recommendation for aspirants preparing interview?

Based on mood of the panel members questions will vary. So be prepare for all kind of questions. Read agriculture thoroughly and also general knowledge questions.

General agriculture by Nemrajsunda, R. K. Sharma, Arun katyayan only.

Soil and water sample collection then varieties and suitable seasons and most of the questions in Integrated Farming System.

You must very confident should not fear about interview pannel.
